Sioux Falls, South Dakota's The Madness and the Madman have been blending progressive and thrash metal since 2019, building a sound that routes the technicality and shifting tempos of prog through the kinetic aggression of thrash. Coming out of South Dakota — one of the more obscure states for extreme metal — gives them an underdog quality that suits the uncompromising ambition of progressive thrash.

The More I See formed in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England in 2003 and built a reputation for precision-driven thrash metal informed by progressive touches and sharp modern production. The band's catalog on Earache Records includes the albums The Wolves Are Hungry, The Unholy Feast, Tread the Darker Path, and The Disappearing Humans, the last of which was mixed by producer Scott Atkins and mastered at Abbey Road.
