Tenemit craft heavy metal from the area around Karlštejn Castle in the Czech Republic, drawing on the medieval atmosphere of their Bohemian surroundings since 2019. Their sound carries the weight and grandeur of traditional European heavy metal with a nod to their historically rich locale.
Tenet was a Canadian thrash metal side project assembled in 1996 by Jed Simon of Strapping Young Lad around an exceptional cast of genre veterans, including guitarist Glen Alvelais (Forbidden), bassist Byron Stroud (Fear Factory), drummer Gene Hoglan (Death, Dark Angel), and vocalist Steve 'Zetro' Souza (Exodus). The project released a single album, Sovereign (2009), which combined Bay Area thrash aggression with death metal brutality before the members returned to their primary projects. Though short-lived, Tenet is notable for the caliber of its contributors.
Founded in Beijing in 2010 by Nature Ganganbaigal — an ethnic Mongolian multi-instrumentalist and composer — Tengger Cavalry wove traditional Central Asian elements including morin khuur, throat singing, and shamanistic themes into folk and black metal. After relocating to New York, the project expanded to a full band and performed a sold-out debut concert at Carnegie Hall in 2015, also contributing to the soundtracks of Civilization 6 and Doom Eternal. Nature Ganganbaigal was found dead at age 29 in June 2019, leaving behind eight studio albums and a singular legacy in folk metal.
Tengwar are a Tolkien-inspired epic folk metal band from Buenos Aires, Argentina, founded in 2003, who blend heavy metal with Celtic and medieval folk instrumentation including Galician bagpipes, fiddle, and hurdy-gurdy. They released the EP "Tengwesta Quendion" in 2008 and their debut full-length "The Halfling Forth Shall Stand..." in 2011, a 15-track concept album based on J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Fellowship of the Ring." Vocalist Thorvi and a rotating cast of folk instrumentalists have anchored the band's lineup across its releases.

That geographic dissonance seems intentional — there's a contrarian streak in their sound, a band playing death metal on their own terms in a city where it doesn't come easy.
