Black Lava is a Melbourne, Australia blackened death metal band formed in late 2021 by drummer Dan Presland and guitarist Ben Boyle, with vocalist Rob Watkins and bassist Tim Anderson completing the lineup. Signed to Season of Mist, the band released their debut full-length Soul Furnace in November 2022, blending old-school black and death metal with groove-laden melodic passages and progressive elements. A second album, The Savage Winds to Wisdom, followed in 2024, cementing their place among Australia's emerging extreme metal acts.
