Boris with Merzbow is a long-running collaborative project between the Tokyo experimental rock trio Boris and Japanese noise artist Merzbow (Masami Akita), active together since 1997. The partnership operates as a formal synthesis: Boris provides composed musical structure to anchor Merzbow's walls of harsh electronic noise, while Merzbow adds extreme high-frequency texture to Boris's heavier material. Key collaborative releases include Klatter (2011), Gensho (2016), and 2R0I2P0 (2020), with the latter consisting of re-recorded Boris tracks overlaid with Merzbow's harsh noise.
