Diocletian are a war metal band from Auckland, New Zealand, formed in 2004 and active since. Drawing heavily from the raw, violent template established by Blasphemy and Beherit, the band deploys blackened death metal of relentless intensity. Their debut full-length Doom Cult (2009) established their reputation in the underground, and Gesundrian (2014) earned placement on Pitchfork's best metal albums list for that year. A 2024 album, Inexorable Nexus, marked their continued activity.
