Great Vast Forest is a black metal band from Lages, Santa Catarina, Brazil, founded by Surgath in 1994 and one of the earliest acts in the Brazilian black metal underground. Describing their sound as "Barbarian Black Metal" — aggressive and cold yet melodic — the band released their debut album "Battletales and Songs of Steel" in 2002, followed by "From the Dark Times to the Black Metal Legions" in 2017.
