Kobra and the Lotus is a Calgary, Alberta heavy metal band formed in 2009 around the commanding voice of vocalist and songwriter Kobra Paige, whose range and stage presence drew early comparisons to power metal singers across Europe. After independently releasing Out of the Pit (2010), the band caught the attention of Gene Simmons, who facilitated a deal with Universal Music Group and Spinefarm Records for their self-titled 2012 album, followed by tours supporting Judas Priest and Slash. The band continued releasing albums through Evolution (2019, Napalm Records), consistently developing a tighter melodic metal sound.
