Formed in Taquara in 1993, Megalon built their sound around the savage intersection of death and thrash metal, channeling science fiction themes through a battery of demos — "Hands of God" (1998) and "Gattaca" (2000) — that drew coverage in national outlets like Rock Brigade magazine. The band was also a driving organizational force behind the local Thrash Attack festival and is documented in the regional rock history documentary "As Pedras do Rio Ligeiro."
