Native Construct formed in 2011 at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and released a single critically acclaimed album, Quiet World (2015), on Metal Blade Records before announcing an indefinite hiatus in 2016. The album blends progressive metal with jazz, classical music, and musical theatre, an ambitious fusion that earned the band significant attention in progressive metal circles. Vocalist Robert Edens and guitarist Myles Yang led a project remarkable for its compositional ambition given the band's brief lifespan.
