Poisonblack were a Finnish gothic and groove metal band from Oulu, formed in 1999 as a side project of Sentenced vocalist Ville Laihiala and later becoming his primary outlet after Sentenced disbanded. The band released six studio albums between 2003 and 2012, beginning with the gothic-leaning Escapexstacy before pivoting toward a harder, groove-driven sound under Laihiala's sole vocal direction. After officially disbanding in 2015, the band reunited in 2023 to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of their debut.
