Sonne Adam formed in Tel Aviv, Israel in 2007, playing death and doom metal rooted in the primitive extremity of early Morbid Angel and the sepulchral heaviness of early Paradise Lost. The band's name is Hebrew for 'hater of mankind.' Their debut full-length Transformation (2011) attracted international attention and led to a signing with Century Media Records. Subsequent EP collections and the 2012 anthology Messengers of Desolate Ways documented their confrontational approach to death-doom, marked by dense, ritualistic riffs and an atmosphere of total desolation. Sonne Adam remain one of the few Israeli acts to make a substantive mark in international extreme metal.
