Bristol's Svalbard formed in 2011, building a body of work that fuses blackened post-hardcore, post-metal, crust punk, and shoegaze into a politically charged and emotionally confrontational sound. Co-led by guitarists and vocalists Serena Cherry and Liam Phelan, the band released four albums — including When I Die, Will I Get Better? (2020) and The Weight of the Mask (2023) on Nuclear Blast — before announcing their disbandment in 2025 following a farewell tour. Their final single 'If We Could Still Be Saved' appeared in November 2025.
