Sylvaine
Sylvaine is the solo project of classically trained Norwegian multi-instrumentalist Kathrine Shepard, founded in Oslo in 2013 and dedicated to the fusion of atmospheric black metal with shoegaze and post-rock — a style often termed 'blackgaze.' Shepard self-released her debut Silent Chamber, Noisy Heart in 2014, then released Wistful (2016), Atoms Aligned, Coming Undone (2018), and Nova (2022), earning a Norwegian Grammy nomination for Best Metal Album for the third — the first female musician to receive such a nomination in that category. Her work draws frequent comparisons to Alcest and Lantlôs.
