Frankfurt's Tankard formed in 1982 and stands as one of the 'Big Four' of Teutonic thrash metal alongside Kreator, Sodom, and Destruction, distinguished from their peers by a lyrical obsession with alcohol rather than war, politics, or death. Signed to Noise Records, they released their debut Zombie Attack in 1986 and have sustained continuous output across more than 18 studio albums, most recently Pavlov's Dawgs in 2022. Their enduring catalog places them among the longest-running thrash acts in Europe.
