Progressive Metal
Formed in Söderhamn, Sweden in 1995 by brothers Stefan and Mikael Zell, Wolverine began as a melodic death metal act and evolved into a progressive metal band of considerable emotional depth by the time of their 1999 EP Fervent Dream. Albums including Cold Light of Monday (2003), Still (2006), Communication Lost (2011), and Machina Viva (2016) traced a sustained drift toward atmospheric progressive rock and post-metal territory, with socially conscious and introspective lyrics at the center. Their 2025 return album Anomalies marked their first studio recording in nearly a decade.
