Woods of Desolation
Woods of Desolation is a solo atmospheric black metal project founded in 2005 by a multi-instrumentalist known as D., based in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. The debut Toward the Depths (2008) established a template blending raw black metal with post-rock and shoegaze textures, further refined on the influential Torn Beyond Reason (2011) and the critically acclaimed As the Stars (2014), which appeared on Decibel and Stereogum year-end lists. Signed to Season of Mist, the project has earned recognition as one of the preeminent acts in the global atmospheric black metal underground.
