Temaukel is a Chilean black metal and ambient solo project from Santiago, active since 2005 and drawing on themes rooted in ancient Chilean indigenous cultures. The project released its debut full-length "HAIN" in 2024, preceded by a string of singles including "Hijo de la roca" and "The Infinity of Numbers."
San Diego multi-instrumentalist Jimmy LaValle launched The Album Leaf in 1998 as a solo project while playing guitar in post-rock band Tristeza, initially self-releasing limited cassette experiments in ambient texture and field recordings. The project gained international recognition after Sigur Rós took LaValle on tour, leading to the acclaimed Sub Pop release In a Safe Place (2004), a landmark of delicate, orchestrated instrumental ambient music. LaValle has continued releasing records under the name, expanding the project to include a full live band and occasional vocals.
The Soil Bleeds Black was formed in Ashburn, Virginia in 1992 as a project by twin brothers Mark and Michael Riddick, operating in the neofolk and dark ambient space with a distinctive medieval influence. Drawing on harp, cello, ethnic instruments, and atmospheric production, the project explored themes of paganism, mythology, and archaic European folk traditions across albums including The Kingdom & Its Fey, March of the Infidels, and Alchemie. After a long hiatus, the brothers returned with Medieval, recorded over seven years and conceived to evoke the sensation of live performance in a grand medieval hall. Their work sits at the intersection of neofolk, dungeon synth, and dark folk.
There's A Light formed in Lahr, in the Black Forest region of southwest Germany in 2011 as a studio project by David Christmann and Jonas Obermüller, expanding to a five-piece live band by 2013. Their sound combines expansive post-rock guitar architecture with ambient textures and occasional sung vocals, placing them at the more atmospheric end of the genre. Their self-recorded debut A Long Lost Silence arrived in 2018, and a worldwide deal with Napalm Records followed, yielding the more fully realized For What May I Hope? For What Must We Hope? in December 2021.
One-person atmospheric black metal and crust project from São Paulo, founded in April 2017, whose lyrics are explicitly anarchist, anti-fascist, anti-racist, and pro-LGBTQ. The debut album Desesperança Crônica was released on May 13, 2017 as a free download; subsequent releases include the 2021 album Mito, você é o próximo..., with the project's sound evolving from raw crust punk toward atmospheric black metal over time.
Groove/heavy metal band from Brasília, Distrito Federal, formed in 2016, singing entirely in Portuguese. Their 2025 album Post Mortem is a seven-track record featuring songs such as "Escravo Perpétuo," "Vulcão Sem Dono," and "Velórios e Núpcias," available on major streaming platforms.
