Thieves is a California grindcore and crust punk act formed in 2013, channeling the raw, politically charged fury of crust into a grindcore format that is brief, loud, and absolutely unsparing. Operating without a fixed city listing, they embody the nomadic, anti-establishment spirit of the crust underground.
Chicago, IL, US · 2009–present · active
Chicago's Those Motherfuckers have been tearing up the Midwest underground since 2009 with a punk-metal hybrid that fuses crust's bile and urgency with heavy metal's riff-driven power. Direct, loud, and unapologetically abrasive, they belong to a long Chicago tradition of bands who don't waste time with subtlety.

Milwaukee's To the Dogs emerged in 2020 with a scrappy, vicious sound that mashes black metal's corrosive atmosphere into thrash riffs and crust punk's anarchic energy, keeping things raw and confrontational throughout.
Buffalo, NY, US · 2021–present · active
Buffalo, New York's Torture Agenda smashes together grindcore ferocity, speed metal momentum, and crust punk's D-beat-rooted rawness into a chaotic, high-velocity assault formed in 2021.

Total Terror was a Swedish death metal and crust punk side project formed in Örebro in 1993 by Dan Swanö and Benny Larsson, both central members of Edge of Sanity, with Andreas Axelsson joining on bass to complete a lineup of three-fifths of that band. The project recorded a crushing set of Swedish-language crust-influenced death metal at Swanö's Unisound studio, but failed to secure a label deal at the time of recording. Their material circulated in the underground for years before Vic Records released a self-titled album in 2009; Century Media later collaborated on a remixed and remastered 30th anniversary edition in 2024 that included the original 1993 demo.

Trap Them are a grindcore and crust punk powerhouse whose blistering, d-beat-informed attack has made them one of the more ferocious acts in American extreme music — raw, politically charged, and uncompromisingly abrasive.
CA, US · 2014–present · active
Trappist formed in California around 2014 as a collaborative project between Chris Dodge of Spazz and Infest, Phil Vera of Despise You and (16), and Ryan Harkins, initially as a two-piece before expanding. The band's entire thematic premise is craft beer culture, rendered through Discharge-influenced d-beat, crust punk, powerviolence, and hardcore played at punishing speeds. Their debut full-length Ancient Brewing Tactics (2018) comprised 21 tracks in 33 minutes and featured guest appearances from Tony Foresta of Municipal Waste and Steve Brooks of Torche. The project operates as a side outlet for members with extensive histories in the American hardcore underground.
