The Sins Of Thy Beloved

The Sins of Thy Beloved formed in Bryne, Norway in November 1996, playing gothic and death-doom metal that combined female soprano vocals with male death metal growls, drawing immediate comparisons to contemporaries Tristania and early Theatre of Tragedy. Their debut Lake of Sorrow (1998) on Napalm Records featured prominent violin arrangements that gave the album a distinctly funereal atmosphere. Perpetual Desolation followed in 2000, also on Napalm Records, and stands as the band's final studio recording. Though the band remained largely inactive after that point, both albums retained a dedicated following within the gothic doom metal community.
