T.T. Quick formed in Osbornville, New Jersey in 1979 and spent years building a following in the New York/New Jersey club circuit before signing with Megaforce Records — alongside Metallica, Anthrax, and Overkill — in the early 1980s. Their breakthrough full-length Metal of Honor (1986) on Island Records, produced by Max Norman, cemented their reputation as a sharp heavy metal act, and vocalist Mark Tornillo later became the frontman of Accept in 2009. The band reunited in the 2000s and again in later years, releasing a new album of mid-1980s-era material in 2022.

Takida formed in Ånge, Sweden in 1999 and developed into one of the country's most commercially successful rock acts, scoring three consecutive platinum-selling, chart-topping Swedish albums with Bury the Lies (2007), The Darker Instinct (2009), and The Burning Heart (2011). Named after a mispronounced character from the Japanese anime Silver Fang, the band signed with Ninetone Records in 2005 and has released over a dozen albums, including the Swedish-language Sju (2019) and The Agony Flame (2024), which reached number 8 on the German charts.

Talas formed in Buffalo, New York in 1974 as a regional power trio anchored by bassist Billy Sheehan, whose virtuosic technique drew widespread attention when the band opened thirty shows for Van Halen in 1980. The band released a self-titled debut in 1979 and several independent records including Sink Your Teeth into That (1982) and the live album Live Speed on Ice (1983) before Sheehan departed in 1985 to join David Lee Roth's band. In 2022, Sheehan reunited with former Talas members to record 1985, an album of material written during the band's final lineup era.

Brooklyn-based Tanith formed in 2017, built around guitarist and vocalist Russ Tippins — also a member of NWOBHM act Satan — alongside bassist/vocalist Cindy Maynard and drummer Keith Robinson. Their debut album In Another Time (2019) on Metal Blade Records drew immediate comparisons to 1970s luminaries such as Blue Öyster Cult, Wishbone Ash, and Uriah Heep, earning cult status in the traditional heavy rock community. A second album, Voyage, followed in 2023, reinforcing their commitment to melodic, fantasy-inflected hard rock and classic metal songwriting.

Founded in Wiesbaden, Germany in 2007 by vocalist Timmy Rough and drummer Urban Berz, The New Roses channel the hard rock tradition of the late 1980s with clear debts to AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, and Aerosmith. After adopting the name officially in 2012, the band signed to Napalm Records and achieved mainstream chart presence in Germany, with Nothing But Wild (2019) reaching number 10 and Sweet Poison (2022) reaching number 13 on the German album charts. A track from their early career was included on the German soundtrack for the TV series Sons of Anarchy. Their sixth album, Attracted to Danger, was released in 2024.

The Night Flight Orchestra was formed in 2007 in Helsingborg, Sweden by Björn Strid and David Andersson while on tour with their main band Soilwork, with bassist Sharlee D'Angelo of Arch Enemy also among the founding members. The band's aesthetic is a deliberate recreation of 1970s and 1980s AOR and classic rock, complete with lush vocal harmonies, melodic hooks, and analog production sensibilities. Seven studio albums followed from Internal Affairs (2012) through Amber Galactic (2017), Aeromantic (2020), and Give Us the Moon (2025), each reinforcing their commitment to the genre's golden-era sound. The project has become one of the most consistent and acclaimed AOR revivals in contemporary rock.
AU · 2014–present · active
The Ugly Kings formed in Melbourne, Australia around 2014, delivering a sound the band describes as "power blues" — a combination of darkened heavy blues, raw punk energy, and a metallic rock edge that draws on the directness of The White Stripes and the weight of Queens of the Stone Age. Their debut Darkness Is My Home was received as one of the standout Australian heavy rock releases of its year, and their sophomore album Strange, Strange Times, released via Napalm Records in August 2021, extended their reach internationally. The two-piece format gives their recordings a sparse but punishing character consistent with the stripped-down blues rock tradition.
