Skindred formed in Newport, Wales in 1998 around vocalist Benji Webbe, formerly of reggae-metal act Dub War, and developed a hybrid sound fusing heavy metal, reggae, dancehall, and punk that the band termed 'ragga metal.' Their debut Babylon (2002) introduced the formula, and subsequent records including Roots Rock Riot (2007), Union Black (2011), and Big Tings (2016) refined it into one of the most distinctive propositions in modern hard rock. Smile (2023) charted at number two in the UK, their career-best chart position. Skindred are known for their high-energy live shows and the crowd-participation phenomenon known as the Newport Helicopter.

T.T. Quick formed in Osbornville, New Jersey in 1979 and spent years building a following in the New York/New Jersey club circuit before signing with Megaforce Records — alongside Metallica, Anthrax, and Overkill — in the early 1980s. Their breakthrough full-length Metal of Honor (1986) on Island Records, produced by Max Norman, cemented their reputation as a sharp heavy metal act, and vocalist Mark Tornillo later became the frontman of Accept in 2009. The band reunited in the 2000s and again in later years, releasing a new album of mid-1980s-era material in 2022.
Takida formed in Ånge, Sweden in 1999 and developed into one of the country's most commercially successful rock acts, scoring three consecutive platinum-selling, chart-topping Swedish albums with Bury the Lies (2007), The Darker Instinct (2009), and The Burning Heart (2011). Named after a mispronounced character from the Japanese anime Silver Fang, the band signed with Ninetone Records in 2005 and has released over a dozen albums, including the Swedish-language Sju (2019) and The Agony Flame (2024), which reached number 8 on the German charts.
