Melbourne's Terminal Sleep formed in 2022, fronted by vocalist Bec Thorwesten, and quickly broke through the Australian hardcore scene with their debut EP Chapter 1: No Solace the same year. A viral live video earned international attention and endorsements from Matt Heafy and Anthony Fantano, and a companion EP Chapter 2: Elicit Fear followed just six months later. The band subsequently signed to Nuclear Blast Records, positioning them among the most prominent emerging acts in the Australian heavy music scene.

Their 2017 debut full-length Freak, produced by Dave Otero, introduced polished production that balanced heavy riffing with melodic choruses, followed by Unstable (2021) and The Ugly Side of Me (2023). Diamond Rowe is among the few Black women to front a nationally recognized heavy metal act.

Formed in Montreal, Quebec, in 2004 under the name The Tempest, The Agonist built their reputation on a volatile blend of melodic death metal and metalcore distinguished by the contrast between screamed aggression and soaring clean vocals. The band rose to prominence with founding vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, releasing standout albums including Lullabies for the Dormant Mind (2009) and Prisoners (2012) before White-Gluz departed in 2014 to join Arch Enemy. Vocalist Vicky Psarakis fronted the band through three further records, culminating in Orphans (2019), before the group disbanded in May 2023.

Formed in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 2000, The Agony Scene emerged from the Christian metalcore underground, initially drawing comparisons to Zao and Overcome before signing with Solid State Records. Their Roadrunner Records debut The Darkest Red (2005) broadened their audience with a punishing metalcore sound threaded with melodic death metal riffing and vocalist Mike Williams' raw delivery. The band released Get Damned on Century Media in 2007, went dormant for years, and returned with Tormentor in 2018 before announcing a fifth album in 2025.
