Richmond, Virginia's Inter Arma formed in 2006 and have developed into one of the most critically acclaimed American heavy bands of the past two decades, blending sludge, black metal, post-metal, and Southern rock into sprawling, unpredictable albums. Signed to Relapse Records, releases such as Sky Burial (2013), Paradise Gallows (2016), and Sulphur English (2019) drew wide praise from Pitchfork, NPR, and the metal press for their structural ambition and sonic density.
