Nephastus

Campina Grande, BR · 2025–present · active
Credited as one of the earliest heavy metal bands to emerge from Campina Grande, Nephastus built their sound on hyper-speed riffing and punishing mid-tempo passages in the mold of Sepultura, sharing stages with that band and Kreator during the Brazilian underground's formative years. Their 1991 album Tortuous Ways, released on the Whiplash label, remains the key document of their early thrash and death metal attack.

Their two releases, the EP Epidemic Salvation (2013) and the full-length Holy Human Plague (2015), trace this evolution from punch-first thrash to a more layered progressive metal approach.

Neural Wreck

Neural Wreck is the one-man progressive thrash project of JC Martins, whose debut EP Mortal Obsession (2015) drew on the precision of Exodus and the melodic ambition of Queensrÿche to build a sound that's technically driven but never cold. The project's follow-up single "Beautiful Day (Killing People)" continued that thread with lyrics grounded in class consciousness and political critique, making Neural Wreck one of the more deliberately minded voices in the São Paulo underground.
