The Shrine formed in Los Angeles, California in 2008, describing their sound as "Psychedelic Violence Rock and Roll" — a blend of California stoner rock, skate punk, and heavy metal rooted in raw fuzz guitar and high-energy live performance. Their debut self-titled EP (2011) was produced by Black Flag bassist Chuck Dukowski, lending immediate underground credibility, and Primitive Blast (2012) and Bless Off (2014) built their reputation further on Tee Pee Records. Rare Breed (2015), released on Century Media, broadened their reach while maintaining the band's unpolished aesthetic. Their appeal crosses the heavy metal and punk underground equally.
Toxpack formed in Berlin, Germany in 2001 under frontman Daniel "Schulle" Schulz, who coined the term "Streetcore" to describe the band's fusion of punk, hardcore, and heavy metal drawn from street-level working-class culture. The band's prolific output on Napalm Records spans nine albums from their debut Stadtgeflüster (2001) through Kämpfer (2019) and the 20th anniversary compilation Zwanzig.Tausend Volt (2022). NPR cited them as setting the standard for the Streetcore style, and their consistency over two decades has made them a defining act within the German punk-metal underground.
