Philadelphia's Disinhume occupy a violent intersection of slam death metal, brutal death, and deathcore, combining suffocating groove breakdowns with the blast-and-grind extremity that defines the East Coast underground. Formed in 2015, they've helped carry the torch for Philly's brutal scene, weaponizing every subgenre in their arsenal without compromise.
Corona, California's Dismembered Engorgement have been plumbing the depths of slam and brutal death metal since 2016, bringing the Inland Empire's underground ugliness to its logical extreme. Dense slabs of mid-paced slamming brutality anchor their sound, the kind of suffocating low-end heaviness that Southern California's brutal death scene has long perfected.
Aurora, Colorado's Divine Excruciation are among the newest entrants in the slam and brutal death metal world, forming in 2025 and bringing the Denver metro area's growing extreme metal energy to its most punishing conclusion. Slam's signature mid-paced breakdowns and guttural intensity are their weapons of choice, built to inflict damage with surgical patience.
Out of Locust Grove, Oklahoma since 2015, Dredge has been delivering slam and brutal death metal from a part of the country most wouldn't expect to produce it — which makes their existence feel like a statement in itself. The band specializes in the genre's most physical vocabulary: churning slam riffs, percussive brutality, and a downtuned low-end density that prioritizes gut-level impact above all else. In a genre defined by extremity, Dredge earns their place through sheer unrelenting weight.
Based out of Clifton and active since 2021, Dripping operate at the extreme outer edge of slam and brutal death metal, injecting experimental sensibilities into an already punishing framework. The result is something deliberately disorienting — dense slabs of down-tuned brutality interrupted by moments of calculated sonic wrongness that keep listeners off balance.
