Washington state's Orphan Crusher deal exclusively in sludge metal, their music a blunt, distorted instrument of slow punishment that demands patience and rewards it with sheer physical impact. The name sets expectations; the music delivers on them.
Cambrai, FR · 2017–present · active
Cambrai's Oruga generates a suffocating wall of low-tuned heaviness where sludge, stoner, and doom metal converge into a crushing mass. Their riff-worshipping approach piles distortion upon distortion, creating tar-thick grooves that move with glacial inevitability.
Brittany, FR · 2021–present · active

Emerging from New Mexico in 2015, Ot~un~et~ir channel the arid desolation of the high desert into suffocating walls of sludge and doom. An unconventional name for an uncompromising approach to heavy music.
LA, US · 2003–present · active
Outlaw Order was a New Orleans sludge metal side project formed in 2003, composed largely of Eyehategod members minus Jimmy Bower, with criminal and anarchist themes reflecting the members' actual legal troubles — the band reportedly took its name from the fact that all five members were on probation at the time of formation. The project released a limited 7-inch EP, Legalize Crime, in 2003, followed by the full-length Dragging Down the Enforcer in 2008 via Season of Mist. The band effectively went on hiatus after 2010 as Eyehategod resumed full activity.
