Portland, Oregon's Void of Law formed in 2026, bringing together doom and sludge metal in a city that has long been fertile ground for heavy, slow, and ugly music. Portland's wet, grey underground has produced some of the most compelling sludge acts in the country, and Void of Law inherit that tradition — massive, feedback-laden, and built to crush. As one of the newest acts in the index, they're just beginning to make their mark.
Void of Sleep is a stoner/sludge metal band from Ravenna, Italy, established in 2010 and described as creating "a cosmic amalgam of stoned out, progressive sludge rock." Their four albums — from 2014's "Tales Between Reality and Madness" to 2025's "The Abyss into which We All Have to Stare" — blend doom breakdowns, complex time signatures, and psychedelia with synthesizers.
Void Sinker is a sludge/drone/doom metal band from Salerno, Italy, formed in 2023. They deliver crushing, glacially paced doom with drone and sludge elements.
Void Tripper is a stoner/doom/sludge metal quartet from Fortaleza, Ceará, formed by four friends with a shared passion for Black Sabbath and the heavy sounds of Electric Wizard, Sleep, and the Melvins. The band released the fuzz-soaked album Sabbath Worshipping Doom in 2019 and the full-length Dopefiend in 2021, followed by the 2024 release SLUDGEHAMMER. Members Mário Fonteles and Anastácio Júnior handle guitar and vocals, with Jonatas Monte on bass and Kevin Cavalcante on drums.
Voidian is a doom/sludge/post-metal band from Limburg in Flanders, Belgium, formed in 2019 and described as spitting out "droning psychedelic dream sequences" over massive doom and sludge foundations. Their 2020 debut album "Through Eyes of the Flame" spans five tracks over 49 minutes, released on limited vinyl pressings through DUNK!PRESSINGS.
