Formed in County Wicklow, Ireland in 2002 by twin brothers Torsten and Niels Kinsella, God Is an Astronaut have developed one of the most expansive catalogs in post-rock, releasing twelve studio albums over more than two decades. Their sound layers cinematic guitar textures, electronic elements, and space rock atmospherics influenced by Tangerine Dream and krautrock, building largely wordless compositions of considerable emotional depth. Key albums like All Is Violent, All Is Bright and Far from Refuge established them as one of the most prolific and respected acts in the instrumental rock world.
Formed in London in November 1969, Hawkwind are among the earliest and most influential space rock bands, fusing psychedelic rock, proto-punk energy, and science fiction mythology into an immersive live experience built on synthesizers, tape loops, and electronic noise. Their 1971 album In Search of Space was a landmark critical success, while the 1972 single 'Silver Machine' — recorded during the tenure of bassist Lemmy Kilmister — reached number one in the UK. With more than two dozen studio albums across six decades and Dave Brock as their sole continuous member, Hawkwind remain an active and foundational force in heavy psychedelic music.
Founded in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2001, Monkey3 are an instrumental band rooted in stoner rock, space rock, and psychedelic music, known for hypnotic, gradually escalating compositions delivered alongside immersive visual projections in live settings. Signed to Napalm Records, their catalog spans seven studio albums including The 5th Sun (2013), Astra Symmetry (2016), and Sphere (2019). They are a fixture of the European psychedelic rock circuit.
Zombi is a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania instrumental duo formed in 2001, consisting of Steve Moore on bass and synthesizers and Anthony Paterra on drums. Drawing from the horror-soundtrack work of Goblin and John Carpenter alongside the progressive ambitions of Tangerine Dream and Rush, they construct dense, synthesizer-driven space rock using only analog electronics and a rhythm section. Their catalog includes multiple critically regarded albums across Relapse Records and their own imprint, with Cosmos (2004) and Surface to Air (2009) standing among their most acclaimed works. The band is widely credited with reviving interest in the intersection of progressive rock and analog synth horror music.
