Blockheads is a French grindcore band formed in 1992, widely regarded as the leading act in France's extreme underground scene. The band released its debut album Last Tribes in 1995 and built an international reputation through relentless touring alongside Napalm Death, Nasum, Carcass, and Obituary. Their 2006 album Shapes of Misery on Overcome Records is considered a landmark of European grindcore, and the band has continued releasing material and performing across the global extreme metal circuit for over three decades.
Blood Duster is a Melbourne, Australia grindcore and stoner rock band formed in 1991 by Jason Fuller, Anthony Barry, and Andrew Brown, taking their name from a John Zorn song. Their debut EP Fisting the Dead (1993) established Melbourne's gore-grindcore aesthetic, while Str8 Outta Northcote (1998) became notorious for splicing Southern rock riffs into blasting grindcore. Later records, including the self-titled 2003 album featuring original AC/DC singer Dave Evans, and the experimental 2007 double album Lyden Nå, expanded the band's palette significantly; their final show was in December 2017 before a 2025 reunion was announced.
Blood from the Soul is a British industrial metal and grindcore project centered on Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury. The debut album To Spite the Gland That Breeds (Earache Records, 1993), featuring Sick of It All vocalist Lou Koller, was a solo creation by Embury that fused grindcore, punk, and industrial textures alongside contemporaries Godflesh, Meathook Seed, and Scorn. After a lengthy hiatus, Embury reformed the project in 2020 with vocalist Jacob Bannon (Converge), drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth), and bassist Jesper Liveröd (Nasum), releasing the follow-up DSM-5 that same year.
Orlando's Bodybox burst onto the extreme metal scene in 2021 with a savage blend of brutal death metal, grindcore, and hardcore that hits like a sledgehammer to the chest. Frontman Harrison Brown leads the assault through guttural vocals over relentless blast beats and downtuned savagery. Their debut album '3' cemented their reputation as one of Florida's most unhinged new heavy acts, carrying on the state's proud tradition of death metal brutality.
Brujeria is the masked grindcore/death metal collective that emerged from the Los Angeles underground with lyrics entirely in Spanish addressing narco culture, immigration, and anti-establishment politics. Featuring members rumored to include personnel from Fear Factory, Faith No More, and Napalm Death, the band's identity remains deliberately obscured while their music — from 'Matando Gueros' to 'Pocho Aztlan' — delivers uncompromising extremity.
