Dark Sarah is the symphonic metal project of Finnish soprano Heidi Parviainen, launched in 2012 following her departure from Amberian Dawn and conceived as a vehicle for elaborate theatrical concept albums that blend classically trained vocals with cinematic orchestration and gothic atmospherics. Across five studio albums — including the Chronicles trilogy of Behind the Black Veil, The Puzzle, and The Golden Moth — Parviainen has constructed a distinctive narrative world that distinguishes Dark Sarah from conventional symphonic metal with its literary ambition and operatic depth.

Founded by former Within Temptation keyboardist Martijn Westerholt in the Netherlands in 2002, Delain became one of the most beloved acts in European symphonic metal over a fifteen-year run defined by the crystalline soprano of Charlotte Wessels and a gift for anthemic, accessibly melodic songwriting. Albums like We Are the Others (2012) and The Human Contradiction (2014) cemented their fanbase across multiple continents, before Wessels' departure in 2021 led to a significant lineup upheaval and the continuation of the band under Westerholt's sole direction.
