New Hampshire death metal project. Crude, direct, and unapologetically abrasive — Granite State extremity that doesn't waste time on subtlety.
Stockton, California thrash metal project channeling the Central Valley's rough-edged energy through round-the-clock violence. The name promises 24 hours of gore — no breaks.
Phillipsburg, New Jersey progressive metal project. The numerical name evokes a futuristic year, suggesting sci-fi-influenced prog from the Delaware River border town.
East Meadow, Long Island NWOTHM project. The military-mission name pairs with Long Island's suburban setting for classic heavy metal with a sense of duty.
3 is an American progressive rock and metal band formed in Woodstock, New York in 1994 by guitarist and vocalist Joey Eppard, his brother Josh Eppard on drums, and bassist Chris Bittner. The band built a reputation through intensive touring, including dates supporting Porcupine Tree, and signed with Metal Blade Records, releasing The End Is Begun in 2007 and The Ghost You Gave to Me in 2011. Their music blends melodic hard rock with progressive architecture and introspective lyricism, placing them alongside acts like Coheed and Cambria in the American progressive rock underground.
West Point/Hyrum/Farr West, Utah NWOTHM project spanning multiple small towns in northern Utah's Cache Valley. Military phonetic alphabet naming from a region steeped in both LDS culture and surprising metal spirit.
Black metal and grindcore band from Catanduva, in the interior of São Paulo state, formed in 2023. The name translates to Three Skulls and reflects the band's penchant for stripped-down extremity at the intersection of raw black metal aggression and the blunt force of grindcore. As a new entry in the Brazilian underground with no Spotify presence, they operate in the DIY cassette and Bandcamp space that sustains much of the country's extreme metal underground.
Los Angeles heavy metal and power metal project. The mythological serpent name promises triple the threat — a multi-headed attack from LA's vast metal underground.
3 Inches of Blood is a Canadian heavy metal band formed in Victoria, British Columbia in 1999, built around a dual-vocal attack pairing clean power metal singing with aggressive shrieks. Drawing from NWOBHM, power metal, and speed metal, the band released six studio albums, most notably Advance and Vanquish (2004) and Came Out to Battle (2007) on Roadrunner Records, before Long Live Heavy Metal arrived in 2012 on Century Media. They disbanded in 2015 and reunited in 2023, remaining one of the more distinctive Canadian acts to revive traditional metal aesthetics in the 2000s.
