Candlebox formed in Seattle in 1990 and became one of the more commercially visible rock bands to emerge from the city's post-Nevermind major-label wave. Their 1993 self-titled debut arrived on Maverick and moved quickly because songs like "Change," "You," "Cover Me," and "Far Behind" joined grunge-era guitar weight to bluesy hard-rock vocals and broad radio hooks.
