Eyes of the Sun is a doom and sludge metal trio from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2007 by vocalist/bassist Jeff Blanchard and guitarist Miguel De Jesus Jr., with drummer Chris O'Neil completing the lineup. The band endured significant setbacks when Hurricane Sandy destroyed their rehearsal space at Translator Audio in New York and wiped out their equipment, but ultimately signed to Metal Blade's Blacklight Media imprint and released their debut Chapter I (2018). Blanchard is also the owner of the Brooklyn metal bar Lucky 13 Saloon, a venue closely connected to New York's underground doom scene.
Formed in 2017, this England Doom Metal and Drone Metal outfit delivers glacial tempos and crushing, monolithic riffs. Their place within the UK's ever-evolving heavy music tradition speaks to the depth of the region's heavy music culture.
Eyes Set To Kill are a Tempe, Arizona band whose music helped define a melodic, emotionally charged lane between screamo, post-hardcore, and metalcore. Formed in 2003 by sisters Alexia and Anissa Rodriguez with early collaborators, the band developed around the contrast between Alexia's clean vocals and guitar work, heavier screamed passages, and dramatic arrangements. Reach, The World Outside, Broken Frames, White Lotus, Masks, and later releases moved the group through scene-era post-hardcore, heavier metalcore moments, and alternative rock textures while retaining the Rodriguez-led identity. Eyes Set To Kill fit metal and hardcore scope through metalcore breakdowns, screamed vocals, post-hardcore structures, and a long touring history in heavy alternative scenes. Their music is often remembered for its blend of vulnerability and aggression: melodic lines that carry heartbreak or defiance are set against riffs and rhythms built for impact. The band also mattered as a visible female-led presence in a scene often dominated by male voices. Their strongest songs turn melodrama into momentum, using contrast as the engine that keeps beauty and heaviness in constant argument.
A product of Russia's vast and intense metal underground, this Belgorod-based death metal, melodic death metal, and progressive metal act channels punishing grooves interlocked with frenzied tremolo passages. Active since 2023, primal ferocity drives every note of their catalog.
Albuquerque's Eyeslit arrived in 2021 trafficking in psychedelic experimental metal that defies easy genre placement, operating on the weirder fringes of New Mexico's underground. Their music weaponizes texture and disorientation, built less around conventional song structure and more around the unsettling potential of sound pushed to strange places.
Bath-based doom metal and sludge metal act, active since 2017 delivering glacial, punishment-dealing grooves wallowing in distortion. Rooted in Britain's endlessly regenerating metal lineage, uncompromising in their vision, they deliver exactly what their audience demands.
Metalcore act from Frankfurt, Germany, delivering aggressive, breakdown-heavy compositions since 2013. Their isolation-referencing name captures the introspective quality beneath their metalcore's aggressive exterior.
Thrash/death metal and metalcore hybrid from Augsburg in Bavaria, Germany, blending three aggressive styles since 2015. Their discomfort-evoking name captures the harsh, unpleasant intensity of their genre-crossing approach.
