Goatwhip is a black metal band from Reykjavík, Iceland, formed in 2022 and emerging from the fertile Icelandic black metal scene that has produced some of the genre's most acclaimed modern acts. The project channels raw aggression and Nordic darkness.
Founded in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1997 by guitarist Sammy Duet, formerly of sludge metal pioneers Acid Bath, Goatwhore have built one of the most consistent bodies of work in American blackened death metal over more than two decades. Albums like Carving Out the Eyes of God (2009) and Blood for the Master (2012) on Metal Blade Records cemented their reputation for relentless, riff-driven extremity with a distinctly Southern character. Their satanic lyrical themes and high-output touring schedule have made them a fixture of the underground metal circuit.
Goatwitch is a death/black metal band from Portsmouth, active since 2005. Two decades of extreme metal from the Hampshire naval port make them one of the more enduring acts in the southern English underground.

Gob are a Canadian punk rock band from Langley, British Columbia whose music became a key part of the country's 1990s and 2000s pop-punk landscape. Formed in 1993 by Tom Thacker and Theo Goutzinakis, the band built from scrappy punk beginnings into a sharper melodic act with Too Late... No Friends, How Far Shallow Takes You, The World According to Gob, Foot in Mouth Disease, Muertos Vivos, and Apt. 13. Gob fit punk scope through punk rock, skate punk, and pop punk, with songs that balance snide humor, speed, and compact hooks. Their best-known material, including "I Hear You Calling," shows the band's ability to write choruses that feel immediate without losing a slightly bratty edge. Gob's sound is cleaner than hardcore but still grounded in guitar attack and quick rhythmic movement. They also hold a distinct place in Canadian punk because they crossed from underground rooms to mainstream rock visibility while keeping a recognizable personality. The result is music that feels energetic, melodic, and stubbornly tied to the skate-era punk world that formed it.
Cincinnati's Goblin Cleaver wrap symphonic grandeur around a core of blackened death metal, producing music that's as theatrically imposing as it is technically ferocious. Since 2021, they've demonstrated that the two approaches don't just coexist — they amplify each other.
Goblin Festival is a raw black metal project from Finland, formed in 2020, whose debut eleven-track demo features goblin-themed atmospheric black metal including the standout Infernal Chant of the Insane Goblin. Their sound merges dark metal atmospheres with fantastical, eccentric thematic material.
