Boston's Of the Past mine classic heavy metal tradition for songwriting lessons and come back with something that feels honest, direct, and fully committed to the form. Formed in 2017, they represent New England's reverence for the genre's foundational roots.
Ofenza is a black/death metal band from Lima, Peru, originally formed in 2009 as a parallel project to Illapa and revived in 2022 under Bloody Cross Productions. The band pursues themes of Satanism, perversion, and depravity across their catalog, which includes the demos "Perro metal negro!!!" (2019) and "Bestias del pecado" (2022) and a split release in 2021.
Ofermod is a Swedish black and death metal band founded in 1996 by Michayah Belfagor, taking their name from an Old English term meaning excessive pride, drawn from a 1953 J.R.R. Tolkien essay. The band's early single Mystérion Tés Anomias (1998) became a cult artifact in the Swedish underground, and after years of inactivity tied to Belfagor's personal circumstances, the band resumed with the debut full-length Tiamtü (2008), produced by Magnus Andersson of Marduk. Subsequent albums Thaumiel (2012) and Sol Nox (2017) extended Ofermod's reputation for theologically dense, occult-oriented black metal.
Offenbarung is a solo atmospheric black metal project formed in Buenos Aires in 2017 by the musician known as Razsuh, who recorded and mixed all material at his Third Underworld Studio in San Antonio de Padua. The project released two demos — Demo I (Lunar Womb) and Demo II (Jaguar Levitation) in early 2019 — before issuing the full-length Manifestus in July 2019, a sprawling two-track album structured as four movements depicting an astral voyage.
