Crushing Brutal Death Metal from Seguin/San Antonio.
Green Bay, Wisconsin's Putrilence is a very new act formed in 2024 that straddles goregrind and slam/brutal death metal — their Bandcamp handle putrilenceslam makes the priority clear. The band's Metal Archives genre description shows an evolution already in progress, moving from gore-influenced death toward the heavier, more structured brutality of slam.
Baltimore death metal act Putrisect have been active since 2014, and like much of what emerges from that city's underground, they favor a no-nonsense, ugly approach to the genre that values heaviness and atmosphere over technical showmanship. They are part of a strong Baltimore death metal cohort that has remained consistently productive through the 2010s and 2020s.
