Zouo was an Osaka, Japan hardcore punk band active from 1981 to 1984, formed within a local skateboard scene that produced several seminal Japanese underground acts of the period. Their primary release, the 7" EP The Final Agony (1984), became one of the most sought-after artifacts of early Japanese hardcore, often cited alongside G.I.S.M. for its raw production and metallic guitar leads. The band's complete recorded output, including live tracks, was reissued by Relapse Records in 2021 as Agony Remains, making the material widely available for the first time in decades. Members went on to form and participate in other Japanese punk and hardcore projects after Zouo's dissolution.
