The three-track recording features songs drawn from indigenous Guaraní mythology — including "The spirit of the mountain (Ka'a Póra)", "Vampire (Mbopi)", and "The crying woman (La Porá)" — blending lo-fi black metal aesthetics with themes rooted in regional folklore. DE · 2004–present · active
Ahab is a German funeral doom metal band founded in Karlsruhe in 2004, named after the obsessive captain in Herman Melville's Moby-Dick and building their entire thematic catalog around nautical horror and classic maritime literature. Their debut The Call of the Wretched Sea, released on Napalm Records, is considered a landmark of the funeral doom genre, and subsequent albums including The Divinity of Oceans (2009), The Giant (2012, based on Edgar Allan Poe), The Boats of the 'Glen Carrig' (2015), and The Coral Tombs (2023) have each adapted a different piece of seafaring fiction. Their pacing is glacial and their atmosphere suffocating, placing them among the premier acts in extreme doom.
