One of Wilmington, North Carolina's longer-running heavy acts, Thunderlip have been at it since 2005, pairing stoner rock's fuzz and groove with the more structured punch of traditional heavy metal. Their longevity in a coastal Carolina scene not known for the genre speaks to the band's stubborn commitment to loud, hook-driven rock.
Viennese heavy/speed/power metal band formed in 1995, Thunderlord recorded their material between 1997 and 1998 at rehearsal studios in Vienna, drawing on the spirit of classic European steel from acts like Judas Priest and Running Wild. Their previously unreleased recordings were remastered and made available in January 2022, bringing the band's early work to a wider audience.
Eau Claire, Wisconsin's Thunderlung operate in the ambitious space between sludge, post-metal, and progressive metal, constructing layered, slow-building compositions that reward patient listening. Founded in 2018, they bring an Upper Midwest sense of space and patience to music that can shift from suffocating heaviness to expansive, textural passages within a single track.
Thundermother are a Swedish hard rock band founded in Växjö in 2009 by guitarist Filippa Nässil, built around loud guitars, road-tested choruses, and a determined belief in classic rock and roll impact. The band's lineup has changed significantly across its career, but Nässil's riff writing and band-leading presence have kept the identity focused: bluesy hard rock with heavy metal bite, big hooks, and a live-first attitude. Albums such as Rock n Roll Disaster, Road Fever, Thundermother, Heat Wave, Black and Gold, and Dirty and Divine show a group refining a sound that draws from AC/DC, Motörhead, old-school arena rock, and European festival metal without becoming a costume act. Thundermother's songs often celebrate movement, stamina, desire, and defiance, with guitars kept at the center and production built for immediate punch. The all-women lineup history has made the band visible in a male-heavy scene, but the music depends more on force than novelty. Their appeal is straightforward in the strongest sense: riffs that snap into place, choruses made for crowds, and a refusal to treat rock tradition as museum material. Thundermother keep hard rock physical, loud, and proudly uncomplicated.
Out of Westchester County, New York since 2017, Thunderon blend the hazy low end of stoner metal with the atmospheric reach of post-metal, crafting music that drifts between weighted groove and more expansive, effects-laden territory. Their suburban New York origin gives them a certain restless edge that keeps the music from settling too comfortably into either genre.
Dallas, Georgia power metal outfit Thundershield have been forging anthemic, melodically driven metal since 2016, drawing on the genre's European influences while planting their sound firmly in the American South. Their music leans into the soaring vocals and galloping tempos that define classic power metal, an unusual presence in the Georgia heavy music landscape.
Thunderslave is a Speed/Heavy Metal band from Monterrey, Nuevo León, formed in 2015. The band released their self-titled debut EP in 2017 and their first full-length, Unchain the Night, in 2020 through No Remorse Records. Their 2025 EP Going Faster continues their high-energy approach rooted in classic speed metal.
Heavy/power metal band from Belém, Pará, formed in 2010, with a lineup anchored by vocalist Leo Rodrigues and guitarist Hugowar alongside Bruno Gibson (bass), and Paulo Wallace (drums). Thunderstick from London is the project of the legendary NWOBHM drummer known for performing in a gimp mask, continuing his theatrical heavy metal legacy in a later incarnation since 2017. His distinctive persona — originally from Samson and Iron Maiden's early lineup — brings theatrical menace to classic British metal.
