Lachrimatory was a doom/death metal band from Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil, originally formed in 1999 and recognized as a cornerstone of that city's doom scene. Their album Transient, first self-released as CD-R in 2011 and officially reissued by Russia's Solitude Productions in 2014, featured cello alongside keyboards and guitars to create dense, melodic atmospheres. The band split up by 2015, leaving Transient as their most widely distributed work.
Lacrima Mortis is a doom/death metal quintet from Blumenau, Santa Catarina, Brazil, formed in 2016 and known for a theatrical, ceremonial aesthetic that includes robed stage attire inspired by acts such as Sunn O))). They debuted with the EP Optare Mortem in 2017 before releasing their first full-length, Posthumous, through German label Talheim Records in 2020, a nine-track, 48-minute record featuring weathered death growls, Gregorian chants, and guest vocalist Laurent of French band Mourning Dawn.
Lady Mortis is a doom/death metal project from Valinhos, São Paulo, Brazil, active since November 2017 and rooted in funeral melancholy with Portuguese-language themes of darkness and existential grief. The band has released several recordings including the EP Exiled from the Light and singles such as Snow Tears (2022), Winter Farewell Poem, and Darkened Emotions, building a catalog of slow, elegiac compositions.
Les Mémoires Fall is a doom/gothic metal band from São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brazil, formed around 2011–2012. The band released their debut album "Endless Darkness of Sorrow" in 2014, earning recognition in the Brazilian and South American doom scene, and followed it with the digital EP "Dying Dried" in 2016. The band released the "Stragado EP" in November 2006, recorded at The Magic A.S.O.M. studio with founding members Pacu on guitar and vocals and Mindu on drums. Their music mixes crossover thrash with doom-inflected heaviness and themes of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll.
Liträo is a sludge/doom metal band from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, formed in 2018 by four musicians drawing on shared history in other local projects. The lineup features Guilherme Kirk on guitar and vocals, Guilherme Stephano on lead guitar, Gabriel Fontes on bass, and Marcos Soli on drums, with the band citing Sleep, Crowbar, and Electric Wizard as primary influences. Their debut full-length album "Egomorte" was released in 2020.
Los Suffers is a doom/sludge/death metal trio from São José dos Campos, Brazil, consisting of Luiz Dias (vocals/guitar), Jean Carreira (bass), and Brendan Kitchen (drums). The band released their debut full-length "Quando A Chama Se Apaga" in March 2022, a six-track album spanning over fifty minutes of heavyweight doom recorded at AS Studio in São José dos Campos. The record drew praise from the international doom and stoner metal press, with Doomed and Stoned highlighting it as a standout entry in Brazil's underground heavy scene.
Los Yithians are a doom and stoner metal trio from San Martín, Argentina, whose name references the Great Race of Yith from H.P. Lovecraft's fiction. Their debut album Pnakotus — seven tracks recorded live in October 2016 and mixed and mastered at 7 Cuchillos Records by Marcos Verón — was released in May 2017. The band's lineup on that record consisted of Edgar Sosa on guitar and vocals, Gastón Olaguibet on bass, and Alberto Adrián on drums.
