Formed in London in 2015 by ex-The Safety Fire guitarists Derya Nagle and Jaquin Ardiles alongside vocalist Elliot Coleman (ex-TesseracT) and drummer Alex Rudinger (ex-The Faceless), Good Tiger arrived pre-established as a progressive metal supergroup, raising $18,000 in crowdfunding within 24 hours of their announcement. Their debut A Head Full of Moonlight (2015) and follow-ups We Will All Be Gone (2018) and Raised in a Doomsday Cult (2020) on Metal Blade Records deliver intricate, melodically sophisticated music that draws from djent, post-hardcore, and math rock. The band has toured alongside Periphery and Between the Buried and Me.
Birmingham, Alabama's Haste formed in 1995 and occupied a space where post-hardcore, metalcore, and emo intersected. The band released three albums — Pursuit in the Face of Consequence (1999), When Reason Sleeps (2001), and The Mercury Lift (2003) — before disbanding in 2007. The Mercury Lift in particular drew comparisons to the atmospheric post-hardcore of Quicksand and Hum, and the band is remembered as a defining act of the early 2000s regional heavy music scene.
Founded in Geneva in 1996, Impure Wilhelmina have spent three decades blending post-hardcore, metal, new wave, and dark rock into a sound marked by constant reinvention without loss of identity. Albums such as Radiation (2017) on Season of Mist and the early touchstones L'amour, la mort, l'enfance perdue (2005) defined their capacity to absorb disparate influences into cohesive, emotionally charged material.
Love Is Noise is a UK two-piece formed in 2021, consisting of vocalist Cameron Humphrey and guitarist Tom Mellon, who blend alternative metal with shoegaze textures and post-hardcore intensity. Drawing influence from Loathe, Glassjaw, and Thornhill, the duo released their debut album on Century Media Records in February 2025, titled To Live in a Different Way. Their self-described approach layers heavy guitar work with atmospheric density, carving out a niche in the contemporary British heavy underground.
SETYØURSAILS is a German metalcore and post-hardcore band formed in Cologne in 2017, built around a blend of aggressive screamed vocals and clean melodic passages addressing themes of mental health, resilience, and personal struggle. Their self-produced debut Enough (2018) established the band in the domestic scene before their major-label debut Nightfall (January 2022) on Napalm Records brought them wider recognition with a more polished and expansive sound. A third album Bad Blood (2024) pushed the band's palette further, incorporating rock and pop influences alongside their core metalcore foundation.
Bristol's Svalbard formed in 2011, building a body of work that fuses blackened post-hardcore, post-metal, crust punk, and shoegaze into a politically charged and emotionally confrontational sound. Co-led by guitarists and vocalists Serena Cherry and Liam Phelan, the band released four albums — including When I Die, Will I Get Better? (2020) and The Weight of the Mask (2023) on Nuclear Blast — before announcing their disbandment in 2025 following a farewell tour. Their final single 'If We Could Still Be Saved' appeared in November 2025.
Titan formed in Canada in 2006, working within a heavy framework that draws from sludge metal, post-hardcore, and doom, with lyrical themes rooted in existentialism, nihilism, and death. Signed to Hypaethral Records, the band built an underground following through dense, uncompromising recordings that situated them within the broader Canadian doom and sludge metal community, which has consistently produced acts of this stylistic character. Their self-titled debut received attention in the metal underground, including a track appearing on a 2009 Terrorizer Magazine compilation.
Wakrat is a Los Angeles trio formed in 2015 by Tim Commerford, bassist of Rage Against the Machine, alongside French guitarist Laurent Grangeon and Swiss drummer Mathias Wakrat, whose surname provided the band's name. The band plays aggressive, politically charged punk and alternative metal with clear DNA from Commerford's previous work, and released their self-titled debut album in 2016 after debuting live at the Viper Room in September 2015.
ÆGES is a Los Angeles, California post-hardcore and alternative metal band formed in 2011, featuring members drawn from Pelican, -16-, and The Rise. The band combines heavy, riff-forward guitar work rooted in 90s post-hardcore with melodic desert rock hooks and doom-inflected arrangements. Their 2014 album Above and Down Below is the centerpiece of their catalog, demonstrating an approach that draws from Quicksand, Soundgarden, and Queens of the Stone Age without directly imitating any of them. Their output is relatively limited in volume but appreciated within the underground heavy rock community for its density and craft.
