Starting as a scrappy East Bay punk band in Ukiah, California in 1991, AFI underwent one of the most dramatic sonic evolutions in alternative music history. Bloody Hammers is a gothic doom duo from Transylvania County, North Carolina, formed in 2012 by singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist Anders Manga and keyboardist Devallia, his wife. Named after a Roky Erickson song, the project channels Black Sabbath's heaviness through a gothic and occult rock prism, placing it alongside Ghost and Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats in the early 2010s occult rock revival. After signing to Napalm Records in 2014, the duo released a consistent run of albums through the decade, including Black Magic (2016), The Summoning (2019), and Songs of Unspeakable Terror (2021).
Cemetery Skyline is a Finnish-Swedish gothic rock and metal supergroup formed in 2024, assembled from members of some of Scandinavia's most celebrated metal acts, including Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity), Markus Vanhala (Insomnium), Santeri Kallio (Amorphis), Victor Brandt (Dimmu Borgir), and Vesa Ranta (Sentenced). The band made their live debut at the John Smith Rock Festival in Finland in July 2024 and released their debut album Nordic Gothic the following October via Century Media Records.

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds are an Australian-rooted rock band formed in Melbourne in 1983 after the collapse of The Birthday Party. Led by Nick Cave with early collaborators including Mick Harvey and Blixa Bargeld, the band began as a volatile post-punk and gothic rock force before expanding into blues, art rock, murder ballads, garage noise, gospel-like intensity, and stark chamber arrangements. They fit accepted scope through post-punk and punk-adjacent alternative rock, especially in the early records From Her to Eternity, The Firstborn Is Dead, Your Funeral... My Trial, and Tender Prey.
