Ánima de Luz is a symphonic metal band from Naucalpan, State of Mexico, whose name translates to "Soul of Light" in Spanish. Signed to Discos Misha, the band has released three full-lengths — "Trotamundos" (2009), "El fin del hombre" (2019), and "Orígenes" (2020) — with a fourth, "Metztli," arriving in 2026.
Ánima Gélida is a black metal solo project by Buenos Aires-based musician Berenice Keher, who writes, records, and produces everything independently in her home studio. The project spans depressive, raw, and atmospheric black metal, with releases including Lumiere (2019), Simbelmyne-Entranced by Death (2020), Mordred (2022), and the 2023 album Luminaron.
Ánimas Defunctorum is a black metal one-man project from Medellín, Colombia, formed in 2020 and released through Odio Eterno Producciones. The project explores a dark lyrical universe of abyss, madness, grief, suicide, and nocturnal despair rooted in the raw black metal tradition. Árstíðir is a Reykjavík, Iceland folk and chamber pop trio formed in 2008 by Daníel Auðunsson, Gunnar Már Jakobsson, and Ragnar Ólafsson, whose music draws on classical composition, minimalism, and indie folk built around intricate three-part vocal harmonies. The band gained international attention in 2013 when a video of the trio performing an a cappella Icelandic hymn at a German train station went viral, and the following year they became the first Icelandic act to win the Eiserner Eversteiner European Folk Music Award. Ártemis is a gothic/doom metal band from Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, with roots tracing back to 2001 and a reformation around 2010. The band deals in melancholic, atmospheric metal with lyrical themes of love, longing, and the moon, representing a rare voice in the gothic doom scene of Brazil's northeastern interior.
Ásmegin is a folk, black, and Viking metal band from Jevnaker, Norway, formed in 1998, whose name translates from Old Norse as "Might of the Æsir." Their debut album Hin Vordende Sod & Sø (2003), released on Napalm Records, established them as one of the more ambitious acts in the Norse folk metal tradition, blending black metal aggression with traditional folk melodies, violin, and dual clean and harsh vocals. A second album, Arv, followed in 2008. Lyrics are composed primarily in Norwegian and Old Norse, rooting the band firmly in Scandinavian literary and mythological tradition.
Âmago is an atmospheric black metal band from São Bento do Sul, Santa Catarina, active since 2014. Ätherisch was a short-lived drone metal solo project from Osasco, São Paulo, active for roughly a year before dissolving in mid-2020. ÆGES is a Los Angeles, California post-hardcore and alternative metal band formed in 2011, featuring members drawn from Pelican, -16-, and The Rise. The band combines heavy, riff-forward guitar work rooted in 90s post-hardcore with melodic desert rock hooks and doom-inflected arrangements. Their 2014 album Above and Down Below is the centerpiece of their catalog, demonstrating an approach that draws from Quicksand, Soundgarden, and Queens of the Stone Age without directly imitating any of them. Æolian is a melodic death metal band founded in Mallorca, Spain in 2016, featuring members with prior experience in the Balearic underground metal scene. Their debut album Silent Witness (2018) introduced an approach blending Gothenburg-influenced melodic death with threads of black metal and folk, and their follow-up The Negationist (2020) on Black Lion Records deepened that template while turning its lyrical focus entirely to environmental destruction and humanity's damage to the natural world. The band released the three-track demo "Emissary of Death" in February 2018, produced and mixed by vocalist Bernhard Ferraz for Crow Records. The lineup includes Bernhard Ferraz on vocals, Igor Oliveira and Fabrício Fernandes on guitars, Iury Oliveira on bass, and Victor Reis on drums.
Ìsinkú are a black metal band from Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, formed in 2020. The band — comprising Adriano Sabino and Breno Xavier on guitars, Heloísa Saldanha on bass, Anízio Souza on drums, and JJ on vocals — released their debut album Damnatio Memoriae in January 2020. Their sound blends dissonant and melodic elements within the black metal framework, drawing on the histories and cultures of the Brazilian people as lyrical subject matter.
Ímpios is a black metal band from Caruaru, Pernambuco, Brazil, active since 2014 and part of the interior Pernambuco underground metal scene that has developed around that city. The band released the split Prelúdio de uma Nova Era alongside Lord Baal. Their lyrical themes include Satanism, blasphemy, and darkness.
Ódio Indomável was a one-person project run entirely by an artist known only as N., conceived as the spiritual successor to their prior band Fit of Rage. Over two 2021 releases — the Garra da Escuridão demo (March) and the single Semear o Terror (December) — N. delivered a savage crossover of thrash metal and hardcore punk, all savagely riffed and self-recorded.
